San Antonio is filled with historic sites. Most people will immediately think of the Alamo; but the less busy and even more magnificent Missions National Park. One of the most accessible, photogenic sites for family photos is Mission Concepcion.
We previously explored taking photos at the popular, modern, and Pearl, a popular destination for tourists. But San Antonio has many hidden treasures. When Amber and I first got in touch, we knew this site would be perfect for her family.

One of my favorite parts of family photography is helping families feel comfortable enough to truly enjoy the experience.
When I met Amber’s family for their first session with me, I knew that creating a relaxed and fun environment would be important. With three little children, my goal was not to create perfectly posed moments—it was to capture the genuine connection and personalities that make their family special.
Amber shared, “Christina’s creativity and warmness stood out to me during the session. She was so good with my kids and we felt instantly comfortable like we knew her!”
That feeling of comfort is what allows the best moments to happen. When families can relax and be themselves, the photos become more meaningful and authentic.

Choosing the right location is such an important part of telling a family’s story.
For this session, Mission Concepción was the perfect fit. The historic architecture, beautiful stone details, and timeless character of the church created a backdrop that felt both unique and meaningful.
Amber shared, “The location Christina chose was absolutely beautiful. The architecture of the historic church added character to our family portraits and was spot on for what I was looking for.”
I love locations that add to the story without taking attention away from the family. Mission Concepción’s history and beauty provided the perfect setting for these memories.

One of the best ways to create genuine photos with young children is to let them be involved.
During this session, the kids loved helping me “push the capture button” when we photographed mom and dad. It turned the camera into something exciting and gave them a chance to participate instead of feeling like they were simply being asked to pose.
Amber shared that she loved “how much fun my kids were having” during the session.
Those little moments—curiosity, laughter, and excitement—are often what become the images families treasure most.

The most meaningful photographs are the ones that bring you back to how a season of life felt.
After receiving her gallery, Amber shared, “The photos tell a story and the edits are stunning.”
That is always my goal: creating images that capture not only what a family looks like, but the connection, love, and personalities that make them who they are.
From the laughter of the kids to the quiet moments between parents, this session captured a beautiful season for their family—and I feel so grateful I was able to be part of it.
